Keeping up with the Jones'

7.00 am, 55 minutes, Centennial Park

I got down to Centennial Park at a leisurely canter, and then picked up the pace to keep up with Dimitri who was on a warm-up lap of the inner fence. I just managed to keep up with him running, although I doubt I'll ever keep up with him socially.

I was spent by the time I got to the cafe where I bumped into Ellie and Jen about to take off on the bike-legs of their morning workouts. We had time for a chat while Ellie was slipping into her full racing outfit to launch her new bike for its maiden voyage around the Sydney Olympic bike course under escort. Jen's bike looked like the poor cousin compared with Ellie's impressive and sleek racer. Looks like Jen will need a pay rise or Lance Armstrong fitness to keep up .

The foot is holding up well which is pleasing, and the leg strength is slowly coming back. I should be in superb aerobic condition by the time I get to hospital for surgery.

Be careful - you know what happened to Billy Paul, when he had a "thang goin' on" with Mrs Jones back in 1973. Oh yeah, he won a Grammy. Ignore that comment...
Hope you walk into the surgery in tip-top shape. How long to recoup after the digging out?

Yes but you should wear an ankle weight on your other foot to balance things out - otherwise it may lead to other complications....

Hard work keeping up with a new bike I think you should just stick to chasing dimitri.

Maybe you should get yourself a bike and then you too can be a triathlete. Sorry to hear surgery is iminent. Let us know if you would like Dr Kovacs and Nurse Lulu to administer any red wine.
